Dells donate $6.25B to encourage families to claim 'Trump Accounts'

I'm not sure I understand what is being reported here.

Was $6.25 billion dollars actually donated, as stated by the APNews headline?

Or is this one of those far-in-the-future revocable promises that may or may not become real?

So APNews is now a public relations flack, regurgitating press release verbatim?

ZeroGravitas•2mo ago
What I got from the story was that the government is going to start donating $1000 to each child born from July 4th 2026 and the Dells are going to donate $250 dollars to 25 million children under 10 in poorer areas.

These will go into index linked investments and be withdrawable when the child reaches 18.

Y_Y•2mo ago
I wonder then is there a side benefit in "forcing" these kids to take long positions on big stocks that are locked in until at least 2044.

Dell promises to add some dough to the government funded accounts that buy Dell and other shares - it legitimizes the mandatory propping up of inflated share prices. That's the real purpose of these accounts, Dell's promises and libertarian ideology.
