Whoa, what? If the car loses its cloud connection (in this case almost literally) it bricks itself? And anyone with mechanic level knowledge can unbrick it and detach it from the cloud service?

So the average user gets the worst of both worlds. A car that can malfunction if its cloud service does and effectively no protection against thieves armed with some technical expertise.
