Show HN: Elevate – A minimal, privacy-first new tab with a collapsible HN drawer

https://elevate-tab.com/
1•shoarek•41m ago
Hey HN,

I built Elevate because I wanted a "New Tab" page that felt calm and grounded, but I also needed a quick way to check top tech news without getting sucked into an infinite scroll loop.

Most existing dashboards I tried were either too cluttered, required accounts, or simply lacked the one feature I actually wanted: a quick, unobtrusive view of Hacker News.

What it does:

- Calm Dashboard: Time, local weather, and a daily background/quote to set the tone.

- The HN Drawer: A collapsible sidebar that fetches top stories. It stays completely out of your way until you explicitly want to see it.

- Privacy First: No analytics, no tracking. Your name and location settings are stored purely in chrome.storage.local.

- Lightweight: Written in Vanilla JS (ES6 modules), no heavy frameworks.

It's open source and I’d love to hear what you think. Specifically interested if the HN drawer interaction feels right to you all.

Cheers
