Tesla Model Y named worst car for reliability in Germany's major TÜV report

Suspension bushings and brakes.

Brakes because they don't get used much (regen does a lot of the work slowing the car) so they can get rusty.

Suspension bushings probably underspeced for the weight of the car. That's a design problem but more of an annoyance than anything really critical. Probably means replacing them more often than in most cars, but they wear out in any car, eventually.

Suspension bushings because of design flaw that dumps rainwater on them regularly afaik

for your information: this class is for 2-3 year olds, because the first check is after 3 years because there are usually no parts that break or wear that early, after the first check the car owner has to go to TÜV every two years. When a car has been deemed to less safe, they have to remove the plaquette from the registration plate and the owner is forbidden to make longer travels with the vehicle than the next repairshop and home, both must not exceed 50 km. The insurance is also not required to cover shpuld there be an accident and the unsafety has an role in it. In the worst case it can also beend deemed unsafe and then any usage is forbidden. an tow truck brings the car to an repair shop or it is destroyed.

The Tesla Model Y Just Scored the Worst Reliability Rating in a Decade

Electrek's take on the rusty brake is lousy.

Rusty rotors has reduced effectiveness. EV with regen uses the actual brakes because the driver hits the brakes hard enough, presumably emergency braking.

The fact that they rust and it's not programmed to regularly enable physical brakes to scrape the rotors could be the difference between the driver can emergency stop in time or hitting something.

There's a reason why TUV flags rusty rotors as a problem.

LanceJones•2mo ago
And yet CR says Tesla is #10 (#1 across all EV makers) now in terms of brand and reliability. Fred Lambert has an axe to grind. Why can't HN see that?
