The slowest website ever (the dl speeds reminded me of the early 2000s) but so worth it! I enjoy reading history books that you will not find in a public library.

Same here, it's great for anything out of print.

Regarding DL speed, I found it pays to try out the different free links, as they come from different sources, but seem to have the same order (ie the fourth link will typically be the same source between books). Once you found a source that is fast, you can stick to it then.

It is surprising how many books in these archives are romance novels. Just poking around randomly showed almost all (fiction!) is romance. If the reason for this Chinese dump has to do with LLM training sets, that puts the AI Sycophancy into a new light for me. AI chatbots are essential romance novel partners.
