Bird Game 3 – Online trend or marketing genius?

2•SergiuNistor•1mo ago
I keep seeing reels related to Bird Game 3 (here's a compilation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSu1OuTQBfM).

Bird Game 3 is depicted as this old game (~2009 iirc) which used to have lots of players, and cool, engaging multiplayer mechanics, giving you this sense of "second-hand nostalgia". Some reels even claim that the servers have been closed. I rarely play games (maybe once a year), but the reels indeed convinced me to at least look into the game, especially since it is so popular.

However, it turns out Bird Game 3 never existed, and all the videos are AI-generated. There are 3 possibilities: 1. This is just a trend, and people simply keep it going for fun 2. This is a genius market validation/marketing scheme for a game that's about to drop soon 3. All of the above

Curious about your opinions. It might be that this approach is already popular, but I was not aware of it.

I pretty much saw the trend evolving over time, and I'm pretty sure it's just something that happened, nothing planned.

There is an indie dev making a Bird Game prototype now, because of the trend, but it's a small project so I doubt he had this in plan.

SergiuNistor•1mo ago
Oh I'm sure a lot of people are trying to develop the game, as a result of the reels.

Are you trying to imply that someone would actually lie in an advertisement or marketing campaign?
SergiuNistor•1mo ago
It's not simply the classic "let's act like we got the tech ready (we do not) and we will launch soon". There's an interesting nuance to it.

It's more like "let's act like this game already existed for 15 years, and this is what the gameplay was like, and people loved it".

Wild how convincing AI content can be. Shows the power of perception in marketing. For creators or indie devs trying to test ideas, tools like Amplift.ai can help validate interest and reach audiences without needing a real product yet.
