Risk of acute kidney injury and mortality in patients vaccinated for Covid-19

OK, so in spite of higher ratio of incidents in the vaccinated group the overall mortality was lower. The question is, what are the consequences of that for an average person.
spwa4•1mo ago
Why is this news? Yes, triggering the immune system will in very rare cases cause liver, kidney failure and sometimes vascular problems. Yes, vaccines trigger the immune system. That's the point of them.

Of course, things that trigger the immune system: going for a walk, stubbing your toe (or any kind of minor wound), getting licked by your cat or dog, obviously getting sick, cuddling your children, breaking a bone, smelling a flower, ... Frankly half the times anything about your body hurts or even just feels slightly irritated this is what you're risking.

So, yes, triggering the immune system one extra time with a vaccine will slightly raise the risk of this happening. By something like 1 in a million (of this problem happening in your lifetime). Having a pet will cause that very same risk multiple times per day, every day, for a decade or so and it still won't be significant.

And before someone else points this out: yes, if it does happen, you're pretty fucked. But again, a pet will cause this risk 5 times per day, every day. Your neighbors' pet will cause this risk once per week.

It's just something to ignore.

For healthly people, and particularly for the young, covid also had a very small chance of causing significant harm.
