With Electron/WebView2 apps becoming increasingly common and websites becoming more bloated, even casual users will now find 8GB of RAM insufficient.

I can imagine conversations like these playing out multiple times over the next year or two:

Head of IT: We can't deploy the AI-powered seahorse emoji app across the org. It would cost $10 million of RAM, and we don't have that in the budget.

CEO: We just got a $10 million investment from Seahorse Emoji LLC. Buy the RAM!

Maybe the saving grace will be that this will give a market advantage to fast, lightweight software again. On the other hand, the budget market isn’t where the money is, so it’s more likely this just means rich people have compute and poor people are SOL as always.
