It's an odd piece to post to HN now, it was topical three years ago .. and the hands of time have moved on since.

That said, I did look to place it and noticed the author:

worked for the BBC 1989-2015 (ish) and since almost exclusively dined out on writing BBC hit pieces.

I'm sure there's much to criticize after 25 years inside but it does make one wonder just how acrimonious the exit must have been and what was the story there.

A decade's a long time to carry a grudge, still it may just be a case of the anti-BBC dirt pays better and we've all got rent to pay one way or the other.
