Original Title: Pete Hegseth to slash 4-star generals in Pentagon shake-up that pulls the plug on Europe and Middle East

Who knew a russian agent could destroy the United States so easily?
jfengel•1mo ago
I wouldn't say it was easy. It took about 30 years of planning to get us to this point.

Getting the agent to be in charge was the very last step. They had to spend decades building up resentment of Europe, among many other things.

Destroying the US wasn't the hard part. Getting about half the nation to cheer it on was the hard part.

DustinEchoes•1mo ago
> The proposal would reduce US Central Command, US Africa Command and US European Command to subordinate status under a new umbrella organization called US International Command – stripping these Middle Eastern and European-focused headquarters of their current four-star authority.

Ceding the world to China and Russia while purging any generals with a spine.

Forbes reported today (?) that Germany is withdrawing Patriot systems from Poland.

Patriots are American-controlled air defense systems.

In the middle of the intense incursions of Russian drones into NATO airspace.

If I was a Russian asset, this is what I would do.

jleyank•1mo ago
If/when this happens, the commander of NATO should/must be a Euro general/admiral of some kind. It's going to be their problem, so it should be played by their rules. The US can remain a member, or exit as it wishes. Will be curious how US forces will be able to deploy to the other side of the globe without intermediate stops in Europe, and what happens to US facilities there.
