Research papers are ideas transcneding time and domains

1•basedid•1mo ago
Hi HN. This is Purna from Base.

Research is the foundational work on which derivatives are usually built. Processor research made PCs and mobiles possible, which made doordash and uber possible. Base presents research as ideas forming, formed or yet to be formed, so you can form a foundational base that propels whatever you do - research or something derivate from research.

Live at - https://basedid.com/

Demo at - https://www.loom.com/share/7d4279c4d5244cbe9d009982b8f3fa8a

During my time as a researcher, it was frustrating how you don't have a singular way to see the bigger picture, the stuff that sparks ideas, with an ability to drill down into specifics in whatever catches your eye. I saw researchers( including me) do this with google and other research repository site( with search engines)

But research is not a list. It's a map of ideas flowing through time. And Base intends to make it easier to be part of this conversation.

For a researcher, Base can build a strong ground/foundation that you can personalize and enrich and apply directly to your intended work/contribution.

For a curious learner or a professional, Base informs you. The information here is different from other types of sources/searches in the sense that you talk to the foundations(actual publications/papers) and not the derivates( like you'd find in a google search - blogs, articles, posts).

Research much like any other content that's produced needs creativity. But the tools today, are not built to inspire, they're like libraries. We need an intelligent layer on top of these libraries that makes browsing and exploring the vast scientific and academic contributions conducive to produce more of them and enable to push boundaries by leaps and not by increments.
