While I love the Posthog product (that has grown substantially in features the past few years) it's nearly impossible to self-host.

The stack is comprised of 3 web services, 5 background services, the temporal stack, Postgres, Redis x 2, Kafka, Zookeeper & ElasticSearch.

Most of ue really only care about the events coming from the SDK at a reasonable price, forget session replay and other nice to haves.

So I built an equivalent of their ingestion layer on Cloudfalre Workers in Rust. It publishes events to a Cloudflare Pipeline that lands the events in R2 Data Catalog.
