It's ultimately an ultra locked down Android game console. Stores should be banned from selling open box systems though, it's not fair to the next owner.
We have so many good Android consoles coming out right now. Your can buy a steam deck for around the same price.
I'll miss fire emblem, but I refuse to rent such an expensive device until Nintendo remotely bricks it. Keep in mind if they accidentally auto ban you , you'll have no real recourse.

Not to forget that ultimately it's just the same games over and over again. Sometimes they change enough that everyone gets excited.
