As I drove in this morning I met some cops at the gas station. I passed snowplows clearing lanes, although my lane seemed not to have been plowed in days. The hospital was busy as an ambulance arrived. Passing the airport I saw a plane landing beside a parked search and rescue helicopter. No doubt some pilots are asleep nearby. And in quiet rooms behind locked doors countless soldiers watch the electronic horizons that protect us all.
