Show HN: Why many AI-generated websites don't show up on Google

https://pagesmith.ai/seo-for-ai-generated-sites
12•manu_trustdom•1mo ago
We’ve been experimenting quite a bit with AI website builders and kept seeing the same pattern:

Sites often look finished to users — modern UI, fast loads, everything appears “done” — but when search engines crawl them, much of the main content isn’t actually present yet.

In many cases the issue isn’t SEO basics, keywords, or content quality. It’s simply when the HTML is generated and what Google receives on first visit.

We wrote up a calm, non-marketing explanation of what’s going on, how to spot it yourself (even if you’re not very technical), and why this keeps happening with many modern AI builders.

We’re also building a tool (Pagesmith) around this problem, but the article stands on its own and should be useful even if you never use our product.

Happy to answer questions or be challenged on any of the claims.

The website reads like the spam that gets injected into the "contact" form on my website.

The centered text and varied list item dingbats remind me of folks who don't really have much to say, but want to make an impact.

dtagames•1mo ago
Your explanation has nothing to do with AI and everything to do with SSR, which is well known and needed by all kinds of SPA apps.

Why frame it as problem in need of a solution when it's not?

I think I prefer that AI-generated websites not be presented by search engines, thanks
titaniumtown•1mo ago
This sounds like an awful idea. Shouldn't it be good AI generated pages don't show up? That question is rhetorical.
rule2025•1mo ago
Google doesn't care whether a website is AI-generated or not; what it cares about is whether the website is high-quality. AI-generated websites can be very beautiful and valuable.
danielcarter25•1mo ago
Yes, True! Many AI Generated websites and Many AI Tools also don't come up on the google search result page. Such as mine 3D Product Configurator, QuickSize and many other tools which I owned. Maybe because of competition or it could be anything. But I think google should have consider them once.
