One of the best things about the Playdate, in my opinion, is that it’s fairly easy to have a C game running, and as you only need to target a single hardware and resolution, a lot of modern game development woes are removed.

This plus its limitation makes it a great platform to learn low level game programming

I've been thinking about this recently, but more that the gameboy used to have a unique screen size that no one else had, but then with the switch they decided to adopt the same screen dimensions as everyone else allowing them to play the same games the rest of the platforms could. At this point, there is really no difference between a steam deck, switch, ps5 or xbox. They can all play the same games at the same output dimensions.
