Teams can be set to have a LinkedIn link in profiles, for some reason near the org chart tab.

> Both of the asks, were fair as you will see later.

I don’t have to see later. Both asks weren’t just fair, they were fundamentally correct.

Do not use your personal accounts for anything when doing professional work. Do not re-use accounts being used for customer-facing activities.

I literally have a guy in India that works for me to help me with outreach and I told him to associate himself with our company but since he is doing outreach to use another LI account. Mostly I expected him to be overly enthysiastic and get himself banned. He is super nice, just graduated some business school.

I don't even want to comment on these two who made you use your LI for sales. LI is professional network but anything agressive that can spoil your profile is something you don't want to do. I doubt they did it for 20 yrs.

There were places I worked where I didn't show in my LI that I am working there, you can do for all kinds of reasons, sometimes you don't want to be pestered by sales people for example.

He made the mistake of not just creating a second LinkedIn account for this initiative without asking and not using google voice to make the outbound calls.

His concerns were reasonable, making it a discussion was not -- unfortunately.

I have in the past refused and started looking for a new job the moment my employer asked me to use my personal accounts for company work. That was a major breach of personal boundaries which I did not find acceptable. But clearly, it doesn't seem that the author had the liberty to say no:

> Part of me was concerned about my future, my visa, I just moved, The lease.

This is one of the major reasons why I left the US after a few years of my own accord; green card / citizenship wait times for Indians are nonsensical if you are not provably extraordinary or haven't married a US citizen. I could be wrong, but it seems that the author is still young, doesn't have many dependents or responsibilities. Their mental state would've been a lot worse, and they'd have been a lot more vulnerable to workplace manipulation if they had children and a mortgage to think about. Even if they had a good manager today, there's no guarantee they'd keep having a good manager a few years from now before their green card arrives.

I found it a cruel joke that a country that prides itself on "freedom" and "liberty" is perfectly happy keeping people, directly or indirectly, in circumstances where they do not actually have freedom and liberty for decades. The crueler joke is that a lot of said people find this arrangement perfectly acceptable even when they have other options.

sorry for your bad experience, but that group sounds like one no one would want to be a part of. you have more integrity than they do.
