Starlink Hits 9M Customers, Adds More Than 20k Users a Day

At first I wanted to comment that 20k users/day require manufacturing same amount of terminals, which seemed impressive to me. But then I decided to compare with iPhone and was blown away by the volume: 235M iPhones a year or 643K units manufactured every day!
Zigurd•1mo ago
it's very likely that the terminals don't equal the count of users. Terminals on airliners, ships, and other shared use cases have far more users than the number of terminals would indicate. The other side of the coin is that they're not adding 20,000 individual retail accounts each day.

AFAIK Starlink has the largest PCB manufacturing facility in the US.
nizbit•1mo ago
That’s cool I guess if Starlink is your only option but damn if I give Musk a penny…oh wait
LarsKrimi•1mo ago
Sure. And Elon is the 19th best Diablo 4 player in the world

Can these numbers in any way be verified?

metalman•1mo ago
call it 10 million customers @ $50/month +- $ 6 billion/yr, now. and for the near future starlink will remain the only possible service for much of the earths surface. I considered starlink, but found another solution(cell booster) for my remote(ish) internet needs but the decider was the nazi saluting asshole factor, too bad, as the guy was moving the edge for a while, and then went all in for regresive tedious whackological nonsense.
bn-l•1mo ago
He did not nazi salute. Can I ask that you please do not inject your politics and notions into an unrelated topic? I would go to Facebook if I wanted to read gen xers and boomers doing this. But I don’t because it’s boring and a real drag. Thanks.

Your welcome! my comments are fair and balanced, my trust was lost, it's something that we all experience, and trust is a large portion of how we all make our personal technology choices, I shared that and am living rent free in your head, which , well, is the risk of reading, untrustworthy sources, unless you can find an echo chamber, which this place, most defintly, is not. the simple fact is that trust in technology is decining across the board, in all demographics. and the guy was moving the edge, and then lost the plot now maybe, just maybe, he learns how to read the room and play to the greater audience, something we can all hope to get better at!
