I'd like to see some actual evidence for that claim (such as internal dashcam video) rather than blindly accepting it at face value, as the NY Post has done here.
Granted I watched the actual interview with the “driver” (supervisor) and there was some gambling of disengagement scores. Since it doesn’t handle parking lots perfectly the trick to re-park (in this case so he can charge) is to drop the pin exactly where you want and start the drive again.

This one is special because the coast-to-coast drive was a major goal for the autopilot team from the start. A lot of hours were spent in marathon clip review sessions late into the night looking over interventions as we attempted legs of the drive over time - triaging, categorizing, planning out all the projects to close the gap and bring the number of interventions to zero.
