First new motion sickness drug arrives after nearly half a century

About a decade ago I spent a lot of time sailing with a friend. I have a delicate sense of balance and easily suffer motion sickness. The common over-the-counter drugs have never had more than a 50% success rate with me. Older sailors kept recommending pickled ginger as the best solution - and it completely, flawlessly, solved my motion sickness problem.

Advice for anyone who may want to give it a try: a slice or two won't do, go for a mouthful, cold right out of the jar, and chew thoroughly, preferrably on a mostly empty stomach. You'll need to have it some 30-45 minutes before you go out on sea. Right before you go out won't do, and if you have it once you're already out and feel the motion sickness coming on it won't help either.
