- Office(1): The office we know: Word, Excel, etc. The current version is "Microsoft Office 2024" with a one-time lifetime licence.
- Office(2): Similar to Office(1), but with a subscription model. This was renamed "Microsoft 365" in 2022.
- Office(3): 'Hub' app for managing Office (1), similar to Unity Hub. This was renamed the 'Microsoft 365 app' in 2022. This was renamed the 'Microsoft 365 Copilot app' a few days ago.
Too make it more confusing:
- microsoft.com/microsoft-365/get-started-with-office-2024 redirects to Office(1).
- microsoft.com/microsoft-365/microsoft-office redirects to Office(2), stating that "Office is now Microsoft 365".
- office.com redirects to Office(3).

At that point it doesn't matter what someone says pedantically. MS is abusing the office.com domain, which should send me to MS Office information.
Also, at the very end, the Office name is still ruined, given that they want to sell you "Microsoft 365" rather than "Office 365".
This is easily as bad as me having to launch the "Windows App" on my iPad when I need a quick remote desktop session. Just call it remote desktop because that is what it is.
