I know this is off to one side, but installs which say "run this packaged binary from somebody you've never heard of, replacing all your termux"

if you search for Jinwei Hu, one of the first hits in the emacs ML archive is "how do I contact the author" .. who of course immediately responds, so it's not like this is some anonymous drone, but it points to a .. disconnect between what we used to do (trust individuals) and what we more recently have done (assume individuals are mothered by some body we can relate to, like emacs.org) and what we are back to doing (trust individuals) because the centre cannot hold, things fall apart.
