Ask HN: Why don't math/physics teachers protect people from COVID brain damage?

3•amichail•1mo ago
A super smart math or physics teacher in each school should always wear an N95 mask indoors and explain to students that they do this to protect their brain health from COVID-19.

Students tend to take intellectually sharp teachers seriously, especially in math and physics. Seeing a clearly competent adult make a consistent, voluntary choice signals that this is evidence based risk management, not panic or politics.

What do you think of this idea?

Comments

SonOfKyuss•1mo ago
As someone who was fully on board with masking during COVID, I never want to wear one again unless there is high level of infection of either COVID or flu in my immediate area. I think a lot of people feel similarly. There just isn’t going to be much support for masking all of the time unless you work in a hospital.
DustinEchoes•1mo ago
It’s a lost cause. Just keep taking precautions until we get a sterilizing vaccine.
mittensc•1mo ago
nobody wants to wear n95.

I got covid both wearing mask and without.

I got vaccines and still get random colds which might be covid.

Nobody cares or cared to wear regular mask when it was forced.

Why bother?
