That's something not that surprising in the Ruby ecosystem though, is it?
It's not like the community is breaking everything all the time on backward compatibility, but to my mind it's more akin to go with some of them here and there is the resulting situation is deemed more friendly. That's just one philosophy of life, and I think it's ok, other ecosystems opt for different tradeoffs, and they are also fine.
