Embrace your lack: on Pluribus and LLMs

> Is this the view of LLMs? Do they desire what is not yet digitized? Pluribus suggests that the happiest LLM is

LLMs don't have views and they aren't emotional. They are auto complete engines. Further, while some of the writing definitely COULD have been influenced from LLM hype, most of it was not, as the original plot was taking shape between COVID and 2023, according to both wikipedia and other sources.

To quote wikipedia:

> Vince Gilligan conceived the premise of the series after becoming "weary of writing bad guys",[14] following a decade of working on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.[15] During production of Better Call Saul, he came up with the premise of a man who everyone in the world suddenly adored after some cataclysmic event.

The comparison of the show to LLMs was actually mildly entertaining. If the author had simply written the post noting the similarities without showing bias, it could've been a fun read.

However, most folks here on HN know LLMs are, what their strengths/limitations are, so it comes across as a cringe support piece for LLMs. Those of us that are knowledgeable know that, while LLMs are a useful tool, the output requires scrutiny from end to end, and failing to apply that scrutiny universally across every field will result in not only false results, but also, lives lost, folks innocently jailed, bad decisions that effect the masses, and more.

"AI"/"LLMS" are currently resulting in layoffs of key experts (along with everyone else) globally, and that is EXACTLY what most of the skeptics are up in arms about. Even if LLMs stopped hallucinating 100%, they can't innovate, don't understand culture, and are biased towards bad practices thanks to humanity itself having a terrible history regarding war, racism, torture, slavery, committing unimaginable acts, doing the bare minimum, and more.

Further, it's beeing pushed WAY too hard by corporate america, who has a terrible agenda.

At any rate, some of the similarities are pretty hilarious, even the ridiculous "always positive" tone they have most of the time. Others, are just straight up reaching.
