Show HN: Janus – Anki flashcards from PDFs, videos and notes

Hey HN! I'm Alessandro, builder of Janus. I kept forgetting what I learn. Spaced repetition helps, but making good flashcards is tedious and most generators I tried in 2024 either produced shallow cards or wanted to be my whole learning system. I just wanted something that fit into my existing SRS + Obsidian workflow.

So I built Janus: turn any content (PDFs, videos, notes, webpages) into flashcards that export to Anki or Mochi. By associating all flashcards with a user or AI suggested highlight, it's a lot easier to decompose multiple pages into focused groups of cards that are easy to review and don't compromise on detail.

I've been bootstrapping for a year, now have ~1000 users and ~100 paying customers, mostly med students who need comprehensive decks from textbooks. AMA!
