> Operate with a sense of urgency.

How is that sustainable?

techblueberry•3w ago
I work in a company where operating with a sense of urgency is a value, and I by my very nature sort of naturally operate with a sense of urgency, and I can tell it drives the people around me crazy.

It’s funny to here an exec say something like this because then you have to tune to degrees.

But this whole thing is basically; Dell is rewriting the whole company OS? I want to read stories about the epic ways this breaks down, because even in a best case scenario where 2 years down the line this is an amazing success, the disruption will be crazy.

I don't know but billg was said to be paranoid about competition at least in the first 15 or so years sitting at the top and this did impact everyone else.

Translation: "We're putting all our eggs in one basket. Nothing could possibly go wrong. We're sure that you will quickly change everything about the way you work, and to ignore news that you hear about colossal overruns and abandonment of drop-in replacement projects by customers of little fly-by-night companies like Oracle.

We spent over a year on the overhaul!"

I couldn't sleep, so I got up last night and re-read it. Then I figured it out, it's "layoff" all over the pages.
