susam's recent effort at building an HN blog directory is also very popular. I think it's on net a very good thing to have the community orient more towards blogging thoughts and sharing each others' posts. Prompted writing (like commenting on a submission) is easier, but a place for more deliberate thought is also necessary. Hopefully it will lead to higher overall quality of submissions, too.
