It's obscene to jail a 17 year old for 6 years for a nonviolent crime.
His brain isn't even fully developed.
The intelligence is there clearly but you are time-blind at that age and you cannot appreciate consequences that might or might not befall you im future.
It's all about NOW when you're a teen.
