Whats will next in P2P comms? a.k.a. WhatsApp killer?

2•gagarwal123•2w ago
I have been thinking about p2p apps recently how things moved from IRC to Messengers to Whatsapp/Telegram/Signal.. what will be the defining characteristics of next p2p communication app?

1. Privacy - Signal claims to be the gold standard, very limited meta data capture, fully encrypted. 2. Features Template - Whatsapp/Wechat/Telegram offer a series of 100+ features 3. Pure P2P - Bitchat / Mesh comms but doesnt seem to be really scalable to whatsapp level

Immediate future seems to be implementation of EU DMA to enable inter operability between chat apps

Challenges in front us - More governments trying to figure out how to tap into chats - up the surveillance, more scamsters sending apk files, suspicious links, Pegasus style snooping, governments doing internet shutdowns to control citizens..

Wondering what is the future of p2p and is someone building it already? Would love to learn / read more on it.
