Claiming someone explains capitalism "better than Marx" is a low bar. It is widely accepted that most of Marx’s central predictions did not materialize as he forecasted, not even during his lifetime. The article’s conclusion, that the "Land vs. Money" divide explains modern politics better than "Boss vs. Worker", is compelling because it solves puzzles that Marxism cannot. But the article "cherry-picks" Hume’s sociological insights while downplaying his own massive predictive failure (e.g. "Either the nation must destroy public credit, or public credit will destroy the nation").
