Curious why this is here. It was my go to source for AQI data when I was living in Beijing, and I believe it is a Chinese site but the only evidence I have for that is that they have good Chinese data and the CN after AQI in their name. Beijing has cleaned up slot but I’m surprised to see bad air still in Hebei and Shandong.
izacus•2w ago
There's plenty of crowd sourced data including from their own Gaia stations they ship to people in Europe as well.

Why shouldn't this be here?

seanmcdirmid•2w ago
It just didn’t seem to be front page worthy but was there this morning.
polotics•2w ago
Reckoning by the way some national borders are different on the map, the nationalismity of the website is indeed not in doubt. In particular looking at the Himalayas.

It must be so tiring to have to toe such lines (or to toe the not-a-line! ...) in every serious endeavour I'm sorry for the people working on this good useful site.

seanmcdirmid•2w ago
Why? It’s useful it’s useful, it’s definitely useful in China. India has issues for sure with AQI, and China still has lots of problems obviously that they are making progress on.
polotics•2w ago
it's useful and good. And it makes me sad that the good chinese people working on this nice and useful chinese website have to draw lines of different widths and colours that make statements I am sure they themselves would never make about conquest and pain and suffering for the people behind the not-a-line, for example Bhutan on this map does not have a northern border with China, or at least dotted , not a border. Why oh why what is the point can't we just get along in the maybe one day less polluted air ? ? ?
seanmcdirmid•2w ago
Oh, ya, from that point of view they will use Chinese sanctioned maps which are definitely contested.

Why no data from Las Vegas? Reno seems to have several data sources.
