What's the Point of Clawdbot?

3•benjaminwootton•1w ago
I personally don't get it.

I can interact with ChatGPT and Claude directly using apps on my phone.

I can already upload pictures and files from my phone to both the above.

Before long those apps will be able to access other data sources on my phone directly such as email, Google Drive with better integration.

I never need to work with files stored on my Mac mini remotely when I'm out and about. Most of my stuff is in the cloud anyway.

We already have Cowork, computer use, addons for Chrome for trying to connect AI to a browser.

All of these options are quite janky and unreliable even with the most useful use case for AI - email management and calendar management.

I personally see zero value or real use cases in this outside of a fun hack but the influencers are going wild.

Same here. Most of the Clawdbot hype feels like influencer-driven tinkering rather than practical value for typical workflows. Running local agents introduces a lot of security and ops complexity for marginal gains.

I experimented with PAIO mainly because it abstracts that complexity while keeping credentials user-controlled (BYOK). Even then, I’m not convinced agentic AI is production-ready for everyday tasks yet.

This is so fucking good for TESTING stuff end to end. I have mongodb, I have a next JS app, I have a virtual machine that runs something and grafana for logs - it would have been impossible to automate this testing end to end (I’m building Tuco ai) but now it’s possible. I’m so shocked how good this thing is for testing. It was meh for everything else!!
