Checking the blog https://www.zerocarbon.email/blog/ was surprised to see this had regular updates with traction on a few fronts like standardization process and thunderbird etc.. because this didn't get much attention around here the past few years

HN does not comprehensively cover everything that is happening. It tends to focus fairly narrowly on what is hot with the Silicon Valley crowd, but they're very far from representative of the whole industry.
