Interesting in that China has previously been a safe haven for this kind of thing.

I suspect that efforts in China to weaken Japan’s hawkish Taiwan policy, along with China’s growing internal anime/manga market, is leading to a change. This may not be a quid pro quo exactly, but I’m sure it addresses one of the big points of contention between Japan and China.
