HMP: A Cognitive Application Protocol for Agent Networks

1•kagvi13•1w ago
HMP (HyperCortex Mesh Protocol) is an experimental application-layer protocol for agent networks.

Many agent protocols focus on identity, transport, and discovery, but leave long-term semantic continuity, memory representation, and contextual relevance unspecified. HMP explores a structured approach to these areas.

Core ideas: * Immutable cognitive containers * Proof-chains for temporal integrity * Resonance scoring to help agents maintain contextual relevance * Semantic links between cognitive artifacts

HMP is designed to operate either standalone or alongside transport/meta-protocols such as ANP (Agent Network Protocol). It is intended as an application-layer implementation rather than a competing network stack.

I’d especially value feedback from people working on distributed systems, protocol design, or multi-agent architectures.

Happy to answer technical questions. Feel free to ask about the protocol, cognitive containers, or integration with agent network stacks like ANP.

For anyone following along:

HMP (HyperCortex Mesh Protocol) is an experimental application-layer protocol for agent networks and can be used in more than one way.

* It can be used standalone as a general app-layer protocol focused on long-term semantic continuity, memory, and cognitive continuity between agents.

* It can also be used as an application layer within ANP (Agent Network Protocol) — ANP provides identity, discovery, encryption and transport, while HMP provides semantic payload and memory.

So the “experimental application-layer protocol for agent networks” label is correct as a general description, but not limited to standalone use — HMP also fills the application layer in the ANP stack.
