The goal is to subtract a modern commodity every week to find out what we can/cannot live without. The intention is not to make life difficult, but to make it deliberate, to help us distinguish what we need vs. what we have.
Inspired by the game FTL: Faster Than Light, I wanted that feeling of a tactical HUD, but for managing my own scarce resources: Focus, Strength, Clarity, ... Each week, you're challenged to live without something that we blindly consider necessary. If you survive the week, you upgrade your 'human' reactor. If you fail, you donate real money to a charity that matches the challenge.
For example, don't read the news headlines for a week - If you win, you gain +1 for Clarity but if you fail, you donate _$ to the committee to protect journalists.
