I recently decided to start my SaaS journey by building a habit tracker. But while researching existing products, I noticed something interesting.
Most habit trackers are packed with features—graphs, streaks, notes, reminders—but despite all of that, users still struggle with the same problem: consistency. People try multiple apps, feel motivated for a week or two, and then quietly fall off.
That made me ask a different question:
What would actually help someone show up when it’s time to do the habit?
If I lived with them, I wouldn’t just show them a progress chart. I’d remind them when it’s time to act. I’d encourage them. And if they skipped a habit, there would be consequences—maybe paying money or doing pushups—to create a real feedback loop and build discipline.
Obviously, living with every user isn’t scalable So I designed a SaaS centered around accountability and consequences.
The core idea
Users earn coins by checking in when their habit window is open
Users are ranked on a leaderboard based on their coins
If a user misses a habit, they lose all their coins, even if they’re at the top
Habit completion and failure are shown publicly on a community page
Consistency earns public recognition; failure is also visible
(Optional) Users can opt into a monetary penalty if they miss a habit
The goal isn’t just to track habits—it’s to create pressure to act.
By using social accountability, loss aversion, and real consequences, this product aims to help people do the habit when it matters, not just log it afterward. what do you think about my idea? love it? hate it?
