Started as an experiment to make an animated curtain, and ended up with a beach. I was curious what level of graphics you can create with just CSS and HTML in 2026. I learned that some animations (like animating box-shadows and gradients) are expensive and there's some hardware acceleration special case for mobile OSes. There's a little JS to fetch the time and and autoplay a 24-hour cycle.
