I'm the founder of Boot.dev and I was doing my regular "what's going on in my industry" research - searching through Google trends, and was baffled by this.

I'm not sure what on earth is driving the sudden spike in Python learning resource searching

orionblastar•1h ago
Python is growing in interest in learning for a lot of new developers. It is replacing Ruby and other languages. Python is easy to learn when you have the right video course or ebook.

Coincidentally, that time range you just shared, I've noticed more and more Twitch streamers that deal with fintech and cryptos started automating their crypto trading with bots written in Python and AI / ML models, which they started right before Christmas holidays, between late November early December.

I guess they had plenty of time to do such things and some viewers of theirs got inspired and decided to teach themselves Python because it looks easy.

This is very interesting to me. I’ve been working on a side project with interactive Python tutorials in the browser, and I’ve been somewhat discouraged recently by how LLMs have been changing the landscape.

It seems SEO for this sort of thing is dead, so another funnel/channel is needed. Also, CS enrollment seems to be down this past fall for the first time in a while (based on the CERP pulse survey).

But maybe there is still a market for that sort of educational content.
