Ask HN: What's your opinion on the Swisscows search engine?

2•palata•2h ago
I have been a happy user of Kagi for years, and I was looking into supporting an alternative for a while. So I went for Qwant (based in France), which is nice, but I miss some of Kagi's features like being able to pay and not have ads (which I block anyway) and some customisation (like giving more or less weight to a specific website or setting a redirection from reddit to old.reddit).

Swisscows (based in Switzerland) seems to be more like this. Similar to Qwant, it seems like it's backed partly with their own crawler and partly (mostly?) with Bing. Similar to Kagi, I can pay for it, and I want to support that model.

Do you have any experience with Swisscows?

To be fully honest, I hadn't heard of Qwant, Kagi, or Swisscows before reading your post, so thank you for drawing my attention to the alt-search world.

As far as I've known up to this point, its Google, Bing, DDG, and the LLMs.
