Slack recently added extra icons to the left of the "Channels", "Direct messages" and "Apps" sections in the sidebar. Previously, this space was left blank until the item was hovered, at which point it would display an arrow indicating collapsibility. Also, DMs with 3+ participants now just feature a single participant count to the left, as opposed to a profile picture of one of the participants with the participant count overlayed off-center.
