> The real test of Vibe coding is whether people will finally realize the cost of software development is in the maintenance, not in the creation.
Correct. This is not only a great blog post, but this is recommended reading and a warning to the vibe coders.
It's not just about "you can just build things with AI", it's about what comes after that and whether if it is worth maintaining, which that introduces the cost of maintainance.
The VCs don't tell you this because they have invested in AI startups that want you to continue spending tokens on vibe-coding projects with LLMs just like a gambler addicted to slot machines in Vegas.
Maintenance is not free. So how much more tokens are you going to spend on maintaining that slop against everyone else doing the same thing whilst racing your product to zero?
I guess one big component is perceived value. If the market thinks it’s valuable, it’s valuable. It’s when when the market looses value and/or interest that the true value will be evaluated. Companies that have grown organically don’t have that issue since they have proven themselves over time. It’s different for VC’s, for good and bad I guess.

So, I’d say that ”Yes” is the answer to that question.
