I built PrivateWhisper because I wanted Whisper-quality transcription on macOS without the usual setup friction (Python envs, FFmpeg issues, CLI flags) and without uploading audio anywhere.
PrivateWhisper is a native Mac GUI that runs Whisper locally. You can drop in an audio/video file, choose language/model, and export transcripts or subtitles (TXT/SRT/VTT).
I’m mainly looking for feedback on:
- what “local transcription on Mac” workflows you already use
- what’s missing (batching, formats, accuracy settings, speed, etc.)
- what would make this actually useful in real work
