People like being able to undress people they know. Grok is the perfect AI for everything porn that everyone else bans.

Are there any other uncensored models or services that aren’t Grok?

I don't think this is really what's going on, or, at the very least, we can't just reach this conclusion by correlation.

For one thing, I don't think Grok actually lets you go that far with turning real people into porn based on news articles I've found on the subject. Maybe I'm wrong, and I certainly won't find out for myself since I refuse to use any Elon Musk products nor would I try to make such a request.

Either way, I don't think the porn aspect is a significant part of this trend. I just don't believe that it's a significant driver of overall marketshare, especially since the article itself shows that Grok is gaining a lot of female users versus the early male tech enthusiast users (and women statistically view pornography far less often than men).

I think the more obvious answer is just that the general public is starting to use AI more, and Grok has a huge install base via Twitter to bring users in just like Google brings in their ecosystem into Gemini.

The people who used ChatGPT are the early adopter types who didn't use AI based on an existing company they interact with pushing them toward it, they actively sought out ChatGPT since they are connected with new tech developments and heard about it.

To me, the most interesting part of this article is the marketshare chart.

First of all..is Copilot really not in there? Or literally anything else in some kind of "Other" marketshare category? Surely there are more than 3 competitors in this market. I realize that Cursor and Claude "don't count" in the sense that they aren't used in the same way as general purpose chat. But Copilot can be used as general purpose on a website just like ChatGPT.

Second of all, is ChatGPT really losing their ass this badly? I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but it really makes OpenAI look even more doomed. If their sliver of marketshare continues to shrink they could have an earlier userbase plateau than their competitors.
