I am OK if the margin is pretty low! More just me fighting back against tech.
Idea:
Essentially, "generic" versions of web apps. Walmart-brand or Amazon Basics d2c app "generics" (eg, Canva, maybe Airtable, Claude Pro, CapCut, etc.)
Value prop:
- NO SUBSCRIPTIONS
- Cheaper 90% of the time because you pay by usage
- Don't hit paywalls for very common/any basic features or usage
- Access many apps in 1 place (one stop web app shop)
Details:
- The 3 most common "plus" level workflows of these apps are 100% supported (super-user use cases not fully supported)
- No paywalls -- A lot of "free" tiers of web apps run into paywalls for what I'd consider pretty basic features.
- Pay by usage or buy it for life 1-time fee
- 1 login = access to several UIs that are generic clones of various web apps like (Not saying those are where I'd start, but you get the idea.)
- I'm ok w/ low margin. Maybe just like total operating cost + 10%.
Sure, I know that...
- The unit economics will work out or how realistic tech is yet (although I'd start with the most common web apps that I could realistically support the main capabilities of)
- There's a million cheaper clones of various web apps. But it's still a bunch of different logins & almost always subscriptions.
- Biggest challenge would probably be marketing, regardless of competitive value props.
