Ask HN: Why can't I reply to "Who wants to be hired?"?

2•ddevnyc•1h ago
Is there a limitation as to when someone can post a reply? Does this mean the second half of the month is not going to be fruitful when searching for jobs through HN?

Is there another place one might look for jobs during that time?

Please read the guidelines[0] and FAQ[1]:

> Why can't I post a comment to a thread?

> Threads are closed to new comments after two weeks, or if the submission has been killed by software, moderators, or user flags.

Thanks.

I question the wisdom of this limitation in monthly recurring threads. I think it should be special-cased for those specific instances.

No, HN does not want to become a jobs board where you can solicit any time, posts or comments.

If I recall all threads are closed for new comments after 14 days, it's not specific to "Who wants to be hired?"

Realistically the job threads get eyeballs only the first few days, they're often not even on the frontpage for half a day.
