Show HN: The AltStack – A directory of 450 open-source SaaS alternatives

Hi HN, I'm the creator of AltStack.

I built this because the current landscape of discovering open-source software is highly fragmented. You either rely on static "Awesome Lists" that go out of date, or you get SEO-farmed listicles.

I wanted to build a dynamic, community-driven database. The entire directory (450+ tools) is open-source and JSON-driven from our GitHub repo.

On top of the discovery engine, I've started mapping production-hardened Docker Compose configs for the most popular tools (Supabase, Plausible, n8n, etc.) to make the jump from "discovering" to "self-hosting" as frictionless as possible.

The frontend is built with Next.js and React, but the core soul of the project is the open data repository.

I'd love your feedback on the project structure, the UI, or any missing tools you think belong in the database. Happy to answer any questions about the stack!
