Piezoelectric gel to regenerate lost bone (e.g. periodontitis)

The company is oral biolife and they call their product ambrilux.

Here's an article from Temple University where some of the research is being done: https://templeuniv.shorthandstories.com/regenerating-bone-ti...

Basically they're using piezoelectric materials to regenerate bone. Periodontitis is a very common condition, about 40-50% of people over 30 get it. Currently, once you lose your bone you can't realistically get it back if we're talking about horizontal defects (e.g. not just one tooth here and there, but instead many teeth in a row affected as is often the case).

Seems like they might have a quick route to market too.

My main question is is this effective only for vertical defects or horizontal defects as well? Because there are already some solutions for vertical defects.
