A University of Arkansas survey of nearly 2,000 consumers found plant-based meat/dairy alternatives experienced the smallest drops in consumption (around 5%), compared to steeper declines for animal products.

Fruits, leafy greens and water were the only types of food that people reported consuming more of in the study.’

Older people take note: you need protein. you need a LOT of protein. Plant protein is fine, but don't ignore protein input, muscle loss in old age is not helpful to maintaining yourself longterm. If you couple this which calcium loss, it's a long way back from a serious break, with less muscles.

Somehow mankind survived without worrying about protein for millennia. This new obsession is utter nonsense, and likely making people sick as animal protein is linked to cancer and other diseases. The obsession with bodybuilders, some of the unhealthiest people you’ll ever meet, drove this. They didn’t get ripped from protein. It was steroid abuse.
I eat less than half the ‘recommended’ amount of protein each day and manage to stay strong and fit. Vitamins and supplements are garbage too. Just eat fruit, veg and legumes.

Young people take note too: build habits that support a healthy body and mind for the long run:
- Sleep well
- Stay active, spend time outside
- Maintain social connections
- Avoid excess (or all) sugar from non-whole food especially in drink
- Eat a LOT of vegetables: roots, leafs, fruits, seeds (<- nature's protein concentrate for future plants)
Nutrition matters, but it’s not the center of health. Sleep, movement, and relationships do more for long-term health than nutrient optimization ever will.
